Imagine Dragons superfan has unforgettable experience at March Madness Music Festival

For one 9-year-old boy, the Imagine Dragons show at Hemisfair Park was a concert he'll never forget.

SAN ANTONIO — Imagine Dragons was the top headliner for Day 2 of Final Four Music Festival, and for one 9-year-old boy, it was a concert he’ll never forget.

Thousands of people flooded Hemisfair Park for the free Final Four Music Festival, downtown San Antonio.

Among the crowd, was 9-year-old Matthew Saenz.

“I’m so excited,” Saenz said. “This will be the first time I’ve really seen them.”

Saenz parents decided to take him to the free concert but were nervous it would be difficult for him to get around.

“I feeling the dance but unfortunately I can’t dance,” Saenz said.

Saenz seriously injured his knee in an accident about one week ago.

“My mom she made this [t-shirt],” Saenz said. “In vinyl, it says, ‘First things first, I gotta see Imagine Dragons. Second things second, I’m going to fix my bum knee.’”

Saenz can only get around using crutches or a wheelchair. He doesn’t know when he will be able to fully walk again.

“It’s weird because it’s random hurting on its own,” Saenz said.

But he braved through the pain and when Imagine Dragons took the stage, everything else faded away.

“Had somebody not come up to us today could have been completely different and somebody did,” Erin Saenz, Matthew’s mom said. “I really hope he looks at that, and when he sees someone in a wheelchair and he’s out of it he says 'I’m going to help that person and that really important to me.'”
