ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C.-- A substitute teacher has been banned from working in an Eastern, NC school system after being accused of duct taping the mouths of four children.

According to the Jacksonville Daily News, the incident happened Monday at Dixon Elementary School. The substitute teacher “briefly” put duct tape over the mouths of four students, the Director of Community Affairs Brent Anderson wrote in an emailed response to The Daily News.

He said personnel reasons keeps him from releasing the name of the teacher.

Anderson confirmed an assistant principal went to classroom to prevent further action and made sure the tape had been removed. Since the duct tape was removed almost immediately, no medical attention was needed, he told the newspaper.

The substitute teacher was immediately removed from her duties and has been removed from substituting within the Onslow County School District, he said.

Dixon Elementary School Principal has spoken with parents and children involved to assure them the behavior was not acceptable and that the teacher would not be coming back to the school, Anderson said.
