Edie Gross, a pre-k teacher at Randolph Elementary, says that engagement with her students includes songs, chants, and plays. She’s dedicated her entire life and career to childhood education and says it’s her passion.
“Young people, they come to you with such innocence and they're always so truthful and honest about all of their feelings, and they don't hide things,” she said.
The Randolph Field ISD teacher was selected as teacher of the year by her district and was awarded the KENS 5 Credit Human EXCEL Award in front of the entire school. But it’s back in the classroom where Gross shines the most.
While the long-time early childhood educator was surprised and honored by the recognition, she says the most rewarding gift is the one she received every day.
"I was just very humbled by getting it, and teaching is my reward every single day,” she said. “Seeing those smiling faces every single day is my greatest reward."
