Recent deadly shootings on the east side are part of a deadly spike in crime in east San Antonio, a surge that's so bad residents are taking to the streets Friday night to rally for peace.

There’s no way of predicting how big the crowd will be but there are plenty of good people who are fed up with all the recent shootings.

Just a few days ago, there was a preview of this event with the Police Chief William McManus and District 2 Representative Alan Warrick walking the streets looking for solutions.

On Friday, the effort will be open to the public.

Rev. Darrell Boyce is one of the organizers of the march. He joined KENS 5 live about what organizers are hoping to accomplish.

The march is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. The starting point is at East Houston and Walters. It will go westbound on Houston Street to the corner of New Braunfels Avenue, which is where the San Antonio Police Department has recently launched foot patrols.

If you can’t attend but want to see how it goes, you can check the KENS 5 Facebook page, where we’ll have live video that you can watch to follow along.
