Fiesta makeup from self-taught San Antonian has a bright message

You can't Fiesta without some color, and one San Antonian woman is taking that to heart.

You can't Fiesta without some color, and one San Antonian woman is taking that to heart.

"It's very Fiesta and I love the ombre look she has going on," said one woman.

Another woman said she loved the look, particularly the makeup that matched the famous Fiesta flower crowns.

The bright makeup is by San Antonian Belinda Salizar. She's a self-taught artist with a passion for color.

"I just learn by looking at a picture," said Salizar. "I can just stare at a picture for hours and I'm like 'OK I got it.'"

Salizar calls her makeup table her "sanctuary." She spent two hours there, painting those flowers onto her eyelids.

This creative mind didn't expect that her work would garner so much attention.

"For me, it was just an ordinary look - just another makeup look," she explained.

Salizar's original post reached more than 26,000 people and received hundreds of shares on Facebook.

On the surface, it may seem like there's only one message in Salizar's eyes.

"My eyes say, 'it's time to Fiesta - time to party girl!!'"

But there's a double meaning in her makeup.

"For me, it really is therapy," she explained. "I have anxiety.

It's not just makeup, it's more than that. It's medicine to me."

And as Salizar gains more followers through her viral social media posts, she's using her platform to make people's lives a little brighter.

"Even if I'm going through my own anxiety, I really strive to make other people's day better, because that's what really matters," she said.
