Earn a Fiesta medal by picking up Battle of Flowers trash

The City of San Antonio is working to minimize waste after the Battle of Flowers Parade by offering an incentive.

SAN ANTONIO - The annual Battle of Flowers Parade during Fiesta is known for drawing crowds along Broadway and downtown, but, unfortunately, those crowds can leave their mark in a negative way.

Each year, the city sees trash left behind by Fiesta-goers. However, picking up your trash could earn you a free Fiesta medal.

San Antonio Solid Waste Management will be giving out its medals for those volunteering to clean the parade route. Contact waste management if you would like to volunteer to pick up trash. You might also get a free ride to the parade, if needed.

You can earn your medal after dropping off the trash in a clear bag with waste management. The medal will also be available to people who participate after the Fiesta Flambeau Parade.

The Battle of Flowers parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m.
