Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between urgent care and emergency care, and how do I know where to go?
- Impact Urgent Care’s highly trained team of doctors and nurses is trained and equipped to treat all but life threatening emergencies. Our urgent care clinic is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. We do onsite x-rays and lab testing and can provide IV-drips, asthma treatments, suturing (stitches for deep wounds); and casting and splints. If you are unsure whether you should visit an ER or can be treated at Impact Urgent Care, please give us a call at 210.493.4357.
If you are suffering a heart attack or have what you believe is a life threatening injury or illness, call 911 immediately. - How much will it cost for me to come to Impact Urgent Care and will my insurance cover the cost?
- Impact Urgent Care prides itself on providing the best quality care possible to all of our patients. When it comes to the cost of each visit, that is most often decided by your insurance company not our clinic. Each insurance provider with whom we negotiate a contract has its own set of accepted rates and reimbursements for different services and procedures, and we are bound by law to abide by these rates. We recommend that all patients take a moment to review the coverage provided by their insurance carrier so that there are no surprises when you seek medical help. Take note of deductibles and variables for in-network and out-of-network providers. It is important to note that due to the level of care and walk-in convenience that Urgent Care facilities provide, the cost is more expensive than a trip to your primary care physician, but dramatically less expensive than a trip to the emergency room. (Testing and treatment for a urinary tract infection at the ER would cost upwards of $1000, versus only about $200 at our clinic.) No matter what type of doctor or clinic you visit, it is rarely possible for your medical provider to tell you the cost of a non-routine visit until the doctor examines you. Lab tests, medicines and other factors are all variables that can come into play. We are always happy to let you know what costs will be incurred as your doctor decides what labs, procedures, etc. to order. Just let us know and we're happy to do so. Please feel free to give us a call if have any questions.
- Do you offer occupational medicine services at your clinic?
- Yes; we are happy to work with area businesses to assist them with pre-employment screenings, workman’s comp. exams, office-wide flu shots, and more. For more information on the services we offer and how we can help your business streamline healthcare for your employees, please call us at 210.493.4357.
- How long will I have to wait to be seen by a doctor?
- We do our best to see you as quickly as possible. Much depends on the severity of other cases at the clinic at the time you come in to be seen. To help lessen your wait time, we do offer "online check in" via our website, www.impacturgentcare.com. This process allows you to put your name in the patient queue well before you arrive at our office. To expedite the process even further, we welcome you to pre-register you and your family with our office. That way, when you have an urgent care need, most of the tedious paperwork we are required by law to have you fill out, will already be done. We are always looking for ways to improve upon our patient care and services. Please let us know if you have any additional ideas
