IHOP gives away free pancakes to help sick children

Breakfast battle: Pancakes or cereal

SAN ANTONIO - Tuesday marks the unofficial showdown of sugary starches as it is both National Pancake Day and National Cereal Day.

For National Pancake Day, IHOP gives away stacks of free pancakes in exchange for a donation to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Terry Hoke is with Shriner's Hospitals and said just to keep the doors open in three out of their 22 locations, it runs about $3 Million a day.

“All the money raised here stays in Texas,” Hoke said. “Our burn unit in Galveston, Texas and our orthopedic unit in Houston, Texas.”

The organizations are working to reach their goal of $3.5 Million to go towards saving kids fighting against life-threatening diseases.
