Thanksgiving comes early at Camp Bullis

Thanksgiving for soldiers at Camp Bullis

Thanksgiving came a day early for hundreds of soldiers at Camp Bullis.

Congressman Will Hurd, Air Force Brigadier General Heather Pringle and Army Lieutenant General Jeffrey Buchanan were on hand to serve Thanksgiving meals to soldiers on Wednesday afternoon.

"They serve all of us every day, so it's a small opportunity for me to give back and thank them for their service," Buchanan said.

Army Staff Sergeant Lacy Anderson has missed two Thanksgivings on deployments. This time she's missing out because of a month-long leadership training course.

"Usually you only see this on deployment, you don't usually see this big of a show stateside," she said. "For them to do this, it's awesome."

Lieutenant General Buchanan has missed his share of holidays too.

"What you really miss is your family and your kids," he said. "In my case now, I have grandkids. You do miss being around family."

Buchanan will spend Thanksgiving with his wife here in San Antonio, while Anderson spends it with some friends.
