Drinks at doorstep: Alcohol delivery app expands to Alamo City

SAN ANTONIO – You’ve heard of UberEats and Postmates, now there’s Drizly.

The Boston-based technology company brings a revolutionary way to shop for your favorite adult beverages.

Starting Thursday, San Antonians can download the app allowing them to shop multiple local retailers while being able to have their alcohol delivered to their front door.

“Texas is an important market for Drizly and we are glad to offer a truly revolutionary way to shop for alcohol in San Antonio,” said Nick Rellas, CEO, and co-founder of Drizly.

Drizly provides visibility into inventories from multiple retailers, giving adults of the legal drinking age access to a wide selection and competitive pricing as never before, according to a press release. Orders can be delivered by the retailers within one hour, at a conveniently scheduled time, or reserved for in-store pickup.

“We’re proud to team up with Drizly and provide our customers an easy way to shop our store online,” said Anthony Webb, Operations Manager at Gabriel’s Liquor & Wine. “This partnership is a great opportunity to get in front of even more consumers and broaden our reach in San Antonio.”

Beyond alcohol, Drizly user can also shop for ice, mixers and more with no price markup. In-store pickup is free, but if you don’t feel like driving to the store, you can pay the $5 delivery fee.

The San Antonio neighborhoods include: Downtown, North Central Northeast & Alamo Heights, East San Antonio, Terrell Hills, Hollywood Park, Hill Country Village, Shavano Park, Uptown, Live Oak, Tobin Hill, Olmos Park, Shearer Hills, Ridgeview, Longhorn, Kirby, Bracken, Selma, Leon Springs, Cross Mountain, Stone Oak, Timberwood Park, and Castle Hills. Nearby Boerne and San Marcos are also covered.

The partner retailers include: Gabriel’s Liquor & Wine, Seazar’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Don’s & Ben’s Liquor, Live Oak Wine & Spirits, J&G Liquor and Five Palms Liquors.
