Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon creates family-friendly race day

SAN ANTONIO – This year, Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio’s 10K, 5K and kids’ races are scheduled for the same day.

The updated race schedules were to make Saturday a family-friendly race day so parents who want to run can still watch their kids compete.

“This updated Saturday format is going to create a whole new family-friendly environment,” said Cory Michel, event manager. “Parents can run their own race and then cheer on their kids right after. It’s going to be an exciting fitness-themed festival for the whole family.”

The three races will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2 with the 10K and 5K courses starting at Sunset Station at 7:30 a.m. Both races will end at Alamo Plaza.

Once the last 10K finisher crosses the finish line, the kids will line up to start their race around 9:30 a.m.

The kids’ race is a non-competitive, non-timed one-mile fun run for kids in grades K-7. An entry includes a single-day ticket to the San Antonio Zoo (good Dec. 2 or Dec. 3), a medal, t-shirt and goodie bag.
