SAN ANTONIO -- A man is recovering Friday morning from a brawl at Los Gallos on the city's west side.

Police said a father and son were drinking at the bar in the 400 block of Old Highway 90 when they were insulted by several other men. Those same men, about six to seven of them, allegedly jumped the father and son when they left the bar around 2 a.m.

The father pulled out a knife and was injured by the blade, police said. He was then allegedly hit over the head with several beer bottles.

A security guard from across the street tried to stop the beating, police said.

The father was transported to University Hospital in stable condition with lacerations to the head and hand.

Police said the attackers fled the scene.

The son was arrested for criminal mischief after kicking out the back of a police cruiser, police said.
