Construction is officially under way for a new bus rapid transit project.
On Tuesday morning, crews broke ground on the first of eight VIA Primo stations at 4647 Medical Drive.
Once complete, the 20-mile line will travel along Fredericksburg Road and Medical Drive, connecting UTSA and the UTSA Park & Ride at Loop 1604 and I-10 to the South Texas Medical Center.
The final destination will be downtown.
The bus rapid transit will use high-capacity vehicles, better fare collection systems and controlled traffic signals to move passengers along efficiently.
