Two drugs suspects from Eagle Pass are now in federal custody after getting caught in drug probe on the city's south side.
According to San Antonio police, members of their Tactical Response Unit pulled over a black Chrysler PT Cruiser at 410 and Palo Alto just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
"The two males were extremely nervous and couldn't get their stories together, " said T.R.U. Sgt. Dave Berrigan.
Investigators brought in a drug dog, who smelled narcotics near the vehicle. But Berrigan said nothing was in plain sight. So police took the vehicle down to a police garage and took the wheels off of the car. Only then did police find what the dogs had first sniffed.
"They found hidden compartments where approximately six kilograms of cocaine where discovered," Berrigan said.
The street value of the estimated drugs seized Tuesday night was $250,000.
They believe the drugs were headed to San Antonio. The vehicle in question had reportedly been observed making several trips across the Mexican border in the past several days.
The suspects were handed over to federal drug agents. The two south Texas men will now go before a federal magistrate to face drug distribution charges.
