NEW BRAUNFELS -- A cat was recovering Friday afternoon from a disturbing injury after it was discovered to be shot by an arrow.
The cat named Blaze was found by a little girl in Guadalupe County and brought to a local animal shelter with the arrow still embedded in his shoulder.
Debbie Simpson of the Comal Animal Clinic helped the injured animal. "He wasn't crying or yelling or meowing, he was just looking around very curious." Simpson said. "We were able to get him out of the carrier very easily and he let us examine him without any problems or concerns."
Debbie Simpson said Blaze later underwent surgery to remove the arrow. "Making the incision on the other side and then gently guiding it through did help minimize more injury to his shoulder area."
New Braunfels Animal Control usually investigates cruelty cases but since the cat was discovered in Guadalupe County, this incident is out of their jurisdiction.
The Comal Animal Clinic says as soon as Blaze recovers from his injuries he will be put up for adoption.
