SAN ANTONIO -- He took an oath to protect San Antonio citizens but now, one suspended San Antonio police officer was arrested overnight on allegations a traffic stop went too far.
Officer James McClure is accused of using his position as officer to hit on a woman.
Court records allege two years ago today, McClure groped a woman during a traffic stop.
An indictment for official oppression has been handed up in the case.
He was arrested Tuesday and is out on a $3,500 bond.
According to reports, McClure allegedly made the victim follow him to a business center on Hardy Oak in the Stone Oak area on Sept. 1, 2008.
He reportedly saw a bulge in her pants during the traffic stop.
She allegedly admitted she had possession of marijuana and a pipe.
The woman claims McClure strip searched her, groped her and gave her the drugs back.
She also alleges in a previous traffic stop Officer McClure asked for her phone number and called her for a date.
San Antonio police placed McClure on indefinite suspension for the alleged groping incident, which was as close to termination as the department gets.
