A person was hospitalized Wednesday night after a wrong-way driver hit his car head-on.
According to police, 22-year-old Joshua Cedillo was traveling on Loop 410 near Marbach Road at around 10:40 p.m. when he noticed someone driving without headlights traveling the wrong way. Cedillo said he flashed his lights at the driver, and attempted to get out of the way. However, he was unable to avoid a collision with the wrong-way driver.
Authorities say the wrong-way driver in a green Chrysler Sebring kept going, but police tracked him down just a few blocks from the accident. They say James Anthony Gonzales jumped out of his vehicle and ran behind a nearby hotel. But there was no escaping the police.
Gonzales was charged with DWI and failure to stop and render aid.
Cedillo was taken to Santa Rose Westover Hills with leg and rib injuries. Gonzales was also taken to the hospital, but he was later released.
