NEW BRAUNFELS -- A man was arrested Sunday night after police say he attacked his girlfriend with an ice pick during a late-night barbecue.
Police in New Braunfels were called to a home in the 1600 block of West Mill Street around 11 p.m. Sunday. The caller told police she has just been attacked by her boyfriend while at a barbecue next door.
The woman's boyfriend allegedly attacked her with an ice pick, attempting to stab her in the neck. The woman also told police that he began hitting her in the head and face with his fists before attempting to choke her.
Police said the victim landed a few punches on her boyfriend and ran to a neighbors house, where she called 911.
Officers arrested 49-year-old Mike Quintanilla and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken to Comal County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
