The investigation was continuing Monday as authorities worked to determine what caused a mobile home fire that killed three people early Sunday morning, including an expectant mother.
The blaze began at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 15000 block of Henze Road in southern Bexar County.
A 50-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were able to make it out alive, but two men and another woman weren't so fortunate.
“My dad and Rhonda... this is their house, they made it out. But my uncle Clarence and my cousin Roger and his girlfriend, they didn’t," said a woman who asked not to be identified.
She said the girlfriend was two months pregnant. The woman went on to say her father tried to get back in to save the others, but failed on his second attempt.
"All they have is the clothes on their back," she said. She told KENS 5 reporters that they had saved up, sold the mobile home and had $3,000 in the closet.
The family said they had been in the process of moving out of the trailer.
So far, authorities have not released the victims' names.
Fire marshals said they believe the fire started in a bedroom area of the trailer, but they may never be able to determine the exact cause. They have ruled out arson.
