PARKER COUNTY, Texas — Investigators are asking for help to find the gunman who shot and killed a promising young cutting horse over the weekend.
The filly, Bald-Face Lie, was found dead in her pasture at the 72 Ranch near Weatherford on Sunday.
According to a statement from Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler, investigators believe the horse was shot with a high-powered rifle sometime between late Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.
"It was clear what had happened to her, that she had been shot at close range," said Kris Larsen, Bald-Face Lie's owner. "She was a friendly filly. I had hand-fed her a lot, so I think she walked right up to the people that shot her."
"It's just an absolute cowardly act. I mean, it's just ridiculous," Sheriff Fowler told WFAA.
Anyone with information can call the Parker County Crime Stoppers hotline at 817-599-5555. A total reward of $2,000 is being offered, and callers can remain anonymous.
