For those who survived the earthquake in Haiti, their lives now are in chaos.

Many of the victims have few ways to communicate.

Some people in Haiti have been able to send text messages, but more communication is needed.

That's why a group of San Antonio ham radio operators say they are standing by to offer their services.

"We're on stand by, but we're keeping abreast of things, and as things happen we will be passing traffic, and letting people know what goes on," said Schuylar Christ of the South Texas Amateur Radio Relay League.

There are about 2,000 licensed ham radio operators in San Antonio.

Christ says they will be monitoring the airwaves and passing along information for at least the next few weeks.
