MARION -- Officials at Marion High School are reviewing surveillance video after they say a noose was found hanging in the school parking lot Monday afternoon.

The noose was reportedly found after school on Monday near the car of an African American student.

School officials said it wasn't the first noose found on school property, but that it was the first noose accompanied with a death threat.

The note also said, "Whites will always rule this town and school," among other racist remarks.

School officials said they plan to extensively interview students and review surveillance video of the parking lot.

They said there is no tolerance for racist behavior and they plan to start a dialogue on campus about the importance of diversity and acceptance.
