More than two dozen families are still out of their homes Tuesday night after a crumbled retaining wall shifted mountains of soil on the northwest side of town.

This all started on Sunday morning, when neighbors in the Hills of Rivermist subdivision noticed a small gap in a retaining wall had grown to several feet.

Then, on Monday crevices measured 15 feet deep, leaving some homes with almost no ground under their foundation.

The developer says they had issues with this wall in the past  that was related to water draining.

In fact, in 2007, they had to knock down the wall and rebuild it.

Now, the damage the unstable wall has caused extensive damage to several homes, and neighbors have seen the landscape torn apart.

Workers with Pulte Homes are trying to stabilize the three homes most vulnerable. But whether or not those residents ever feel safe enough to move back home remains to be seen.

At least ten homeowners plan to be in Austin Wednesday to testify at a sub-committee hearing.

They say one change that would help homeowners would be to have all arbitration reported to the state, and then be made public.
