SAN ANTONIO -- It is no secret that San Antonio has a problem with drunk drivers. As a result, the roads can be a dangerous place especially on a Friday night.  But now there is a new way to get home safely, an option gaining popularity all across the country.

After a long night out bar hopping, you quickly realize you’ve had one too many drinks and no designated driver. Well, BeMyDD (Be My Designated Driver) believes they have your back.

"We're providing the services of a chauffeur at a discounted rate because we're utilizing our customer’s automobile," Arthur Simanovsky of BeMyDD said.

The Cleveland-based company recently launched their services in over twenty major cities, including here in San Antonio. For $14.50 an hour, you can reserve a chauffeur to come to your home, drive you and your vehicle to the desired location, wait, and then drive you back home.

For $25 plus mileage, the second option will meet you anywhere, dispatch two drivers, and then take you and your car back home.

"Texas has such a high mortality rate with DWIs it's really a shame," Simanovsky said.

In Bexar County alone, alcohol related crashes have remained the same for the past three years. However, the number of deadly crashes and DWI arrests continue to increase. Participating area bars and restaurants feel BeMyDD can help bring those numbers down.

"This would be an easier way and more convenient way... they don't have to leave {their cars} overnight," Ounce Steakhouse Manager Michael P. Culver said.

"In no way are we promoting drinking. All we're trying to do if people are going to be drinking just do it safety and responsibly and with this alternative it's a lot easier to do it," Simanovsky said.

BeMyDD is helping to boost the local economy. They continue to seek 50 drivers to join the company. For more information on these opportunities, go to their website. www.bemydd.com
