An arrest has been made in the death of a woman found strangled inside her San Antonio apartment near Alamo Heights more than a year ago.
The body of 32-year Dana Clair Edwards was found inside her apartment near N. New Braunfels Ave. and Nacogdoches Rd. just after New Year's Day last year.
Dana's father, Darrell Edwards, found her body lying in her bathroom. The entire floor was covered in blood. There were no signs of a forced entry into the apartment.
Investigators initially ruled Edwards' death an "apparent sudden death." It wasn't until medical examiners performed an autopsy that it was determined Edwards was strangled.
Two days before her murder, her parents' ranch house in Gillespie County had been broken into, yet nothing was taken.
Then, just days after the murder, Dana Edwards' Jack Russell terrier, Grit, which had been missing since the murder, was found dead in Olmos Basin.
On Saturday, police arrested Thomas Ford in connection with the crime.
Police say they believe Ford and Edwards had been in a romantic relationship, but that Edwards had ended the relationship around the time of her death.
