SAN ANTONIO -- A 32-year-old man is suing a 26-year-old woman accused of crashing into him and causing massive injuries in April of 2010.
Stephanie Cerda has been indicted on charges of intoxication assault and possession of a controlled substance. Police records show Cerda was arrested two more times and charged with DWI since the 2010 intoxication assault incident.
The victim in the first case, Gerardo Razo, said Cerda was supposed to be under house arrest when she was arrested most recently, but somehow managed to get out of her ankle monitor and drive drunk.
Razo said he suffered multiple injuries during the crash, including a broken leg, seven broken ribs, a cracked hip and a shattered knee. He is suing Cerda in civil court even though records indicate she didn't have insurance during the time of the crash.
Attorney Don Crook said the goal is to send a message to all of Bexar County.
"This kind of behavior is dangerous and it ruins lives and it ruined his life and hopefully his life can serve as an example and he can get a message out there that this will be punished and this was wrong and that something has got to happen in Bexar County to stop this," Crook said.
