Have you bought your ticket yet?
Broadway's smash hit Jersey Boys is making its way to San Antonio.
But before it comes to the Alamo City, I got a chance to watch the show in Austin. This show is phenomenal!
Who can forget these songs... Sherry, Oh What A Night, Walk Like A Man, and the list goes on. You'll recognize the music, sing the songs, and remember the characters. The rags to riches story gives you a behind the music look at Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, taking you back to the group's early days of the 1960's. The show starts out with the original Four Seasons and their drive to get out of the streets of Newark, New Jersey and into worldwide musical stardom.
From Frankie's powerful falsetto to the group's pop sound, the music is the fabric of the show. It'll feel like you're watching a rock concert, with a story. It's perfect harmony. Few know about the story of the Four Seasons, but once you watch the show you'll get to know their story even more so, and even find a few surprises.
The show's composer is also the group's main songwriter... Bob Gaudio. After 40 years, Bob and Frankie still remain friends with a partnership in this show as well as other projects. You'll also get to know the group's "fifth season" Bob Crewe, who collaborated with Gaudio in producing some of their greatest hits.
The Tony Award winning musical is still packing the house on Broadway, but is also an international hit in London, Toronto, and Sydney. It's also a show that's spanning generations. From grandparents, to parents, to sons and daugthers, Jersey Boys has all ages wanting more.
I can't wait for you to see it. It's the most-anticipated show to come to San Antonio in this season's Broadway Across America series. What a great way to start off the season. You'll leave the Majestic Theatre singing the songs of the Four Seasons all the way home.
Check out my stories this week, Wednesday and Thursday (9/1-9/2), and next week Tuesday, September 7th on Great Day SA. Jersey Boys is coming to the Majestic Theatre, September 8th to 26th.
