SAN ANTONIO - Thousands of fast feet have flocked to San Antonio this weekend for the Rock N Roll Marathon. Registration for the race began Friday at noon at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center.
In all, 26,000 runners will participate in the 26.2 miles-long run. Some will be doing it alone, with family cheering on the sidelines. Others will do so with loved ones by their side.
For legacy runners like Curtis Sparrow, whose run the race every year since it began 10 years ago, it's an opportunity to push others toward the finish line.
"I run six days a week right now. I try to go 167 miles a month," Sparrow noted. "One extra thing I try to do is find somebody who's not prepared for this marathon and try to help them along also."
Registration and expo activities lasted until 7 p.m. and now the runners are resting as they make final preparations for the weekend's big race.
