DAY 4- Sunday, April 21
A Day in Old Mexico & Charreada
April 21, 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Charro Ranch
6126 Padre Dr.
Color, costumes, equestrian skills and drills can keep your family entertained all afternoon.
The Asociación de Charros de San Antonio sponsors this event that includes horse reining, bull riding and artistic roping skills. Charros are traditionally attired and the Excaramuza wear ranchera dresses while performing precision movements riding sidesaddle.
Seating is on concrete covered stands, which makes it more pleasant on a hot afternoon. There is some food and refreshment, but the choices are extremely limited. Sometimes there is a small petting zoo for the little ones.
Parking is a bit of a squeeze, but you can get in to this rather low-key event.
Cost: adults/$15, children under 12 free, other discounts offered for seniors, military, law enforcement and firefighters.
