This year, UTSA students took the Great Outdoors into a Lackland City Elementary classroom, thanks to funding from the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S.D.A Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants program.
Through the program, dubbed Educating Youth in Ecology or EYE, UTSA students taught the fourth graders about the environment through a variety of hands-on activities. Topics included plant parts and pigments; tree types, sizes and growth; forests; natural resources; conservation and sustainability.
