Fall is right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate early! San Antonio has many events ready to kick off the season!



The Sound of Music

Sept. 13-18. The hills are alive in San Antonio with ‘The Sound of Music!’ The award-winning Broadway show is hitting the town and will be here for multiple nights. You don’t want to miss you chance sing along with the von Trapp family at The Majestic Theater.

Diez Y Seis Celebration

Sept. 15-16 Did you know Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month? The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating with Bravo! Mi Cultura Diez Y Seis! You get to enjoy this FREE evening of cultural dance selections, highlighting local talent and young dancers from the SA Parks and Recreation Department’s Dance Programs. Sept. 16-17. Music, BBQ, crafts and more! Check out the 9th annual SchertzFest in Schertz. This is a fun FREE event that brings great food and live music together for families to enjoy. The Family Zone provides a carnival for kid-friendly fun. The BBQ Cook-off features some of the best Texas BBQ around. Carnival rides, games, food, and beverage require tickets; prices range from 1 – 10 tickets. Tickets are $1 each.

Sept. 17-18. If you love a good jazz concert and want to celebrate 33 years of it at the newly renovated Travis Park, Jazz’SALive is the event for you! This free, two-day, family-friendly concert features jazz all day by renowned jazz artists, including Joe Lavano and Kirk Whalum. Kids can also have fun at the Kid Zone, a designated play area including games, moon bounce inflatables, arts, and crafts.

Comal County Fair & Rodeo

Sept. 16-25. Ready for the largest county fair in central Texas? New Braunfels has you covered with the Comal County Fair coming Friday. This two-week event is packed full of rodeos, cook-offs, carnival rides and more! If you’re looking for a good time you can’t miss this event!

Band Against Cancer: The Sarah Cannon Tour with Martina McBride and Friends

Sept. 21. Country music fan? The Tobin Center has the event for you! Through a national movement, Band Against Cancer, you can see country legend Martina McBride along with performances by Thompson Square, Cassadee Pope, and Hudson Moore. This event connects people facing cancer with community-based resources and support close to home. If this sounds like your type of event check it out! 

Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets on sale $34.75-$125. MORE INFORMATION
