MEDALS MOST WANTED: College Edition

KENS 5's Audrey Castoreno shows us the hottest Fiesta medals of 2017.

SAN ANTONIO - Every year one of the most anticipated reveals of Fiesta are the medals. We asked you to tell us some of your favorite medals and we got quite the response!

On Wednesday we looked at medals from San Antonio's colleges. We also got to see the city's first ever 'celebrity medal' in addition to a new medal honoring a fallen SAPD officer.

Texas A&M San Antonio 2017 Medal
This medal shows off their mascot, the jaguar. It also has a special feature where it opens its mouth and reads Festival de Cascarones. You can find the medal at the Fiesta Store for $10.00.

University of Incarnate Word 2017 Medal
This is the first year UIW has an official university medal. Designed by employee Mike Hood. UIW also has a second medal that represents UIW’s Fiesta Fashion Show. There is a gown in the center that represents last year’s garment that won best in show. It was designed by Stephanie Rani Maiti-Marquez. Both medals are being sold at the Fiesta Store for $10.00

University of Texas at San Antonio 2017 Medal
This medal features the school’s colors and the iconic Sombrilla Plaza fountain. You can purchase it on campus for $5.50 or at the Fiesta Store for $7.00.

Trinity University 2017 Medal
Two years ago Trinity did a huge April Fool's joke announcing that students could major in Fiesta. Courses included Ground Float Aqueous Float Design and Human Interest in Events of Cultural Importance. This year, maroon and white are represented on the medal as well as their mascot the tiger.

St. Anthony Catholic High School 2017 Medal
Maroon and white steals the show once again with St. Anthony fused with beautiful Fiesta flowers. Get them on campus for $10.00 each.

Benjamin Marconi Medal
Honors the fallen officer with his badge as well as an angel. This is the first remembrance medal that the Family Assistance Office has created. The money made from the sale of the medal will be put to a Christmas dinner they host for all SAPD families who have lost someone in the line of duty.

Emilio Navira Medal
This is the first celebrity medal according to the Fiesta Commission. It honors San Antonio native and Tejano superstar Emilio Navira. You can purchase the medal for $20.00 at the Fiesta Store. Proceeds will benefit the Fiesta Commission.

KENS 5 will be giving away one of the medals highlighted. To win, go to the KENS 5 app and click on the “Medals Most Wanted Contest” for a chance to win one of the medals shown every morning on air.
