Atlanta may be taking off, but Donald Glover’s latest role will find him in a galaxy far, far away.
On Friday, Lucasfilm effectively ended all speculation and confirmed that the Atlanta creator has formally inked a deal to play Lando Calrissian in the highly-anticipated Han Solo standalone. Glover will star opposite Hail, Caesar!'s Alden Ehrenreich, who was originally cast for the leading role before directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller officially introduced him as Han Solo at Star Wars Celebration in London back in July.
Per Lucasfilm, the as-yet-untitled Star Wars spinoff takes place before the events in Star Wars: A New Hope, following the characters in their formative years — prior to the duel on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back. The movie is slated to hit theaters May 25, 2018.
