I DIG SA: Annual cattle drive to steer down Houston Street

Here's a heads-up about the 5th Annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Cattle Drive. If you've never been, then this is the year to start the tradition for you and the kids. Here's why: Free breakfast. Old fashioned chuck wagons will unload their cast-iron skillets and set up for chowing down in Alamo Plaza. On the menu: cornbread, stew, biscuits with jam, cobblers, and good ol' hot coffee. The free (there, I said it again) Buckaroo Breakfast is sponsored by Radio Disney. So, bring along an appetite cause you'll also find fixin's from McDonald's, Wendy's and Chick-fil-A. Breakfast starts at 9 a.m.
But, let me steer you back to the main event. That's 25 head of Longhorn cattle clomping down Houston Street from under I-35, passing by the front doors of Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and on down through downtown to the Alamo. The Western Heritage Parade, that begins at 11 and lasts a little over an hour, will also feature the Texas True Women Drill Team, the Thirty Second Third Infantry Band (from Fort Hood) and the A&M Parsons Mounted Calvary...and lots more colorful fun. Then park yourself up against the ropes that line Houston Street, swing out that Canon and enjoy this kick-off to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
