All hail the king and queen!
The Paseo del Rio Association crowned the new 2012 River Walk king and queen during Saturday's Mardi Gras River Parade. This year's honors go to Steven McHugh and Tammy Peacock-Werline.
To earn their crowns, McHugh and Peacock-Werline competed to raise the most money for the Paseo del Rio Association whose mission it is to promote, protect and preserve the San Antonio River Walk.
Marcie Hernandez with the Paseo del Rio Association says it's nice that this year both royals represent River Walk establishments.
McHugh already has a lot on his royal plate as executive chef of Lüke San Antonio. A lymphoma survivor, McHugh is also actively involved with the local chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. While Peacock-Werline is the senior sales and marketing manage at the River Walk's Hard Rock Café. She also sits on the board of the Paseo del Rio Association.
If you want to catch a glimpse of these new River Walk ambassadors, look for them at the annual St. Patrick's Day River Parade & Festival coming up March 17 at 3 p.m. The Dyeing O' the River green takes place at 5 p.m., but stick around for the Innish Free Irish Dancers, Amy and Chancey, and Robert Doyle - all performing at the Arneson River Theatre in La Villita that night.
You'll also have an opportunity to snap some photos of the king and queen at the Texas Cavalier's River Parade, the Flambeau Parade, and the King William Fair Parade during Fiesta.
