University students have a lot to learn about. Besides their core subjects and specialties within their major, students at the University of Texas at San Antonio are learning about cancer this month. It's a subject no one really wants to talk about; it's a subject everyone needs to know about.

The "Be the Match" Marrow Registry of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center has teamed up with UTSA on a project called Cancer Awareness Month and Community Outreach (CAMCO). UTSA biology student and CAMCO committee member Juan Ramos said, "CAMCO is a way to create awareness of cancers that we don't necessarily think about." That means diseases like leukemia and lymphoma, not just the better-publicized (and more widely talked about) problems like breast and prostate cancer.

Among the activites, a program called Cancer Chats, where students will be able to hear from peers who have coped or are coping with cancer.

If you go to school at UTSA or live nearby or you just want to take part, here are some highlights from this month's agenda:

March 10

Safe Spring Break Health Fair

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.   Sombrilla

March 8-11

10 a.m. - 4 p.m.   Tables throughout campus

March 23

7 p.m. - 9 p.m.   BSE Atrium

7 p.m. - 9 p.m.   BSE Atrium
