San Antonians have a couple of new options if they get sick or injured in the middle of the night. Texas MedClinic announced on January 9, 2012 that two of its locations are going 24 hours.
The first 24/7 operation is the Texas MedClinic located in the Colonnade Shopping Center (9885 IH-10 West). Doctors there will begin offering 'round-the-clock care as of February 1, 2012. The second location is the Texas MedClinic at the Forum Shopping Center (8341 Agora Parkway) which is scheduled to go 24 hours a day in May 2012.
Up until now, all Texas MedClinics have operation from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The owner of Texas MedClinic, Dr. Bernard T. Swift, Jr., said his company decided to extend the horus because "our patients and employer clients consistenly ask about after-hour availablity of our clinics. They are seeking an alternative to costly hospital and free standing emergency room visits, thus the demand for after hours services definitely exists."
Just last month, Baptist Health System launched the first of five emergency hospitals offering care 24 hours a day. That facility located on Highway 281 at Brookhollow is designed to fill the niche between urgent care and a regular full-service hospital emergency room.
With these developments, San Antonians have more options than ever to get the healthcare they need immediately.
