Are you as ready as I am for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament? This is one event I look forward to almost as much as the Super Bowl, and the best part is, we get several weeks of this event. In my humble opinion, it is the greatest sporting event on the planet.
That's what has me scratching my head at the greedy folks that want to expand this great event. That gets me back to the title of this blog, it ain't broke, so leave it alone. In fact, we didn't need the play in game that no one will watch, two teams playing for the right to get whacked by Syracuse in the first round.
The unpredictability of this event is what makes it so much fun to watch, but be honest, how many 1 verses 16 match ups do you watch? Opponents of the expansion will say adding teams will create more of the 8-9 match ups early in the tournament, but I disagree.
Which teams from the bigger conferences that are not in the field today are going to make it better if we allow them in? And the smaller schools that are in, are the ones that have the best chance of pulling off an upset or two. In fact, don't count Siena out too quickly.
Maybe I just an old goat, a traditionalist that likes to hang onto things that are tried and true. All I know is that once again this year, I am going to fill out my bracket, sit back, relax and get my fill of what is and has been the best sporting event on the planet.
