Quick! What is the most common cause of disability in America?

The answer is arthritis. More than 4 million Texas men, women and children are living with it now. Arthritis in Texas affects 27% of women and 18% of men, and the risk increases with age. Nationally, the number of adults living with athritis is predicted to increase from the current 50 million to 67 million by the year 2030.

On Saturday, May 14, San Antonio residents will be asked to get up and move by participating in the 2011 Arthritis Walk and Hero Challenge. The event takes place at the University of the Incarnate Word and is part of National Arthritis Month in America. The annual event raises money for the Athritis Foundation of Texas and throughout the nation.

It's not too early to start forming a team for this year's Challenge. A team may consist of 10 or more walkers. So get moving!
