I've had the pleasure of participating in an event raising money to help change the lives of children living with disabilities and live in some of the poorest areas of the world.  The event is called "Date For A Change" and it's raising money for the organization, Ready, Willing... Enable!

Ready, Willing... Enable! was founded by Edwin Blanton and Jennifer Catron, two former Peace Corps volunteers.  After spending time doing the "toughest job you'll ever love" with the US Peace Corps in the Caribbean island of Dominica, the duo decided to extend their volunteership into their own group.  That's when RWE was born.  They've been returning to Dominica ever since.

Edwin and Jennifer's mission is simple.  They take a group of volunteers to Dominica and educate children with disabilities, their families and their communities about disabilities.  The work of the volunteers gives the children the resources they need to learn and become independent.

On Saturday, February 6th, Ready, Willing... Enable!  hosts its third annual "Date For A Change."  It's a night full of fun when 10 amazing San Antonio singles auction off date packages to raise money for this local charity.  Each package is worth at least $200.  From weekend getaways to gift certificates to self-care items, the items add something special to the packages.  This year, donors are being very generous.  There's a trip for two to New Orleans up for grabs.  If you're the right bidder, you could walk away with this great prize.

"Date For A Change" is being dubbed the single most exciting night of the year, and you don't have to be single to attend or to bid.  Ten of San Antonio’s most eligible singles will be there raising money for a good cause.  It's at the Blue Star Brewery on South Alamo Street.  Interested in making a change?  Stop by or call (210) 394-3637.  By the time you read this, the event could be over, but RWE's work is never done.
