That's just one equation to living longer.
Our friend Ray Cevallos stopped by our show to talk about seniors staying active as one of the keys to having a long life. In fact, after two bouts of cancer Mr. Cevallos is always happy to celebrate a birthday. This past November he turned 67.
It's tough to watch my parents age. One moment they're caring for you, the next moment you're caring for them. It's the cycle of life and not easy to accept. Luckily, my parents are still very strong and healthy, but I know that day will come. In the meantime, I enjoy every moment with them.
Whether it's gardening, or staying in touch with family and friends, my parents have been big proponents of leading a healthy and active life. Last November, my mom ran the Rock 'N' Roll San Antonio Half Marathon with me. A task she wouldn't have been able to do years ago... but she's recently worked so hard just to get to the finish line.
And one more thing I'd like to add about living longer... LAUGH. I hear about the great benefits to laughter. It's good medicine to lower stress and boost your energy. My dad is the comedian in the family. His one-liners keep the family rolling. It's the same case for Mr. Cevallos. Since the first day I met him, Ray has always had a great sense of humor.
So take a cue from some of the simplest things in life that add years to your life. Live longer just by staying active... hold on to healthy relationships... and don't forget to LAUGH!
