Watch My Catwalk
I was just practicing.
You see, a lot of unexpected requests come with being a tv show host. For instance, an overabundance of invites to "walk" in fashion shows. Explains the envelopes that keep falling off my desk. So far this year, I've said yes to only one.
Why? You see there's a lot of pressure that comes with "walking" in a show. Naomi Campbell I am not. Is there anything I've done that makes people think I'd be good at this? Walking out of a door for 5 seconds on the way to a couch every morning doesn't count. Nor is it something i've ever done in my spare time.
So today..I practiced "the walk." It was in the GDSA office, pre-show, hair in curlers and all. Kellie, amused by how absurd I looked walking to ipod music that only i could hear, thought it was worth a video moment on the show.
So today in the open you got to see "the walk." What i discovered instantly upon viewing, is that "It" is no where close to being the walk that it should be. Thanks Kellie.
What i did realize though, is that *every* woman has a walk. Her walk. It can't be taught...a real walk is not contrived.... it's just in you. Self expression in a strut-wow.
So here's some advice to all my ladies out there. Try yours out in front of the mirror today. See what "your walk" looks like. No one has to see you fail on tv.
And here it is......the single most important rule to keep in mind before you take that first step....WORK IT.
