Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will be out indefinitely and sidelined for at least a month after undergoing surgery Thursday following an injury sustained Wednesday night, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

KENS 5's Joe Reinagel earlier reported that Ginobili had sustained a groin injury and would be out of the lineup.

Ginobili suffered the injury in the closing minutes of Wednesday night's victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at the AT&T Center.

He was helped off the court after he collided with a Pelicans player driving toward the basket and was hit by player's knee.

Although Ginobili almost always comes in off the bench rather than starting, he is the engine for the team's second unit, widely considered the best bench group in the NBA.

Ginobili joins Tim Duncan on the injured list. Duncan has been out for several games with a sore knee, and there has been no announced timetable for his return.
