The San Antonio Spurs have officially listed Kawhi Leonard as questionable for Game 6 against the Rockets in Houston on Thursday night.
But last night Kawhi Leonard insisted that the decision to sit out most of the 4th quarter and overtime was Gregg Popovich's decision over his objection, which would explain why subbed in and out several times in the final period of regulation.
Kawhi injured his left ankle midway through the 3rd quarter when he appeared to roll it while stepping on James Harden's foot.
With Tony Parker out, the Spurs have been relying even more heavily on Kawhi offensively for several games. Leonard played 32 minutes going into the 4th quarter and logged just a few more before Pop pulled him out for good.
He still finished with 18 points and an astounding 14 rebounds, but shot poorly from the start, going 7-21 for the game.
Thankfully, the Spurs as a team picked up the slack as five of Kawhi's teammates finished in double figures. And it was Danny Green and Manu Ginobili that stepped up to make big plays in the 4th quarter and overtime to seal the win and give the Spurs a 3-2 lead with a chance to close the series out Thursday night in Houston.
