Kawhi out for Spurs game vs. Warriors on Monday

The San Antonio Spurs and their fans had been dreading the upcoming game against the Golden State Warriors on Monday, which will air on KENS 5.

But recent developments have eased those worries, namely injuries to Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant that will keep those stars from playing in the game.

The Spurs announced on Sunday that Kawhi Leonard won’t be available for that game either but the Spurs are playing well without him. San Antonio has won their last three games, with two of those wins coming against the likely playoff-bound Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans.

The Spurs are currently as healthy as they’ve been all season with players settling into their new roles at the right time, LaMarcus Aldridge hitting his stride, the defense locking down, and role players stepping up to fill the big void left by Kawhi.

The Spurs’ remaining schedule is still incredibly tough after the Warriors game as they’ll host the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz to finish their six-game homestand followed by a trip to play the Milwaukee Bucks and Wizards again only to finish March against the Thunder and start April against the Houston Rockets.

But if the Spurs can beat the Warriors, it’ll go a long way in giving them confidence that despite finishing their season with the toughest schedule in the league, they can still get to the playoffs and be a dangerous team, no matter their seed.
