Medical examiners have identified the victim in a fatal shooting on the city's northeast side Saturday evening.
26-year-old Deandre Cameron was in a red Mercedes at the intersection of FM 78 and Rittiman Road when he was shot and killed.
Officers found Cameron alive in the front seat, wounded and with a weapon in his lap when they arrived at the scene shortly after 9 pm.
Cameron had been stopped at a traffic light behind another car. The passenger of the second vehicle stepped out of the car and fired several shots into the Mercedes. Cameron was struck at least twice.
The shooter ran back to their vehicle, which then fled the scene, heading southbound on Foster Road. Police are continuing their looking for that vehicle, which they describe as a dark sedan.
Police said they believe the shooter is an African-American male in his 20s wearing a dark hoodie.
Emergency crews were called to the scene to assist Cameron, who passed shortly after their arrival.
Police are still unsure if the shooting is related to a prior incident, but are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the murder.
