Once again, a parade of bizarre and delightful fried treats will be on offer for visitors to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
Every year, the state’s best and most unusual fair food is awarded the Big Tex Choice Awards.
The winners this year include Deep-fried Chicken Noodle Soup on a Stick. The treat is made by pouring broth into the fried noodles and vegetables.
Another winner is the Surfin’ Turfin’ Tator Boat, which is lobster, steak, butter and cheese baked into a baked potato.
You can have dinner and dessert together with the Funnel Cake Bacon Queso Burger. Then, wash it all down with the Gulf Coast Fish Bowl. It’s described as a “drinkable aquarium” with alcohol, candy in the bottom and swimming Swedish Fish.
The other winners include Deep-Fried “Froot” Loops, Texas Fajita Fries, Fat Smooth, Fernie’s Fried Texas Sheet Cake, Pinot Noir Popcorn, and the Tamale Donut.
Some other unique foods making their debut in 2017 include Beer-battered Beef Jerky, Cajun-Fried Deviled Eggs, Crawfish Lollipop, Deep-fried Root Beer Float with Dragon’s Breath, Deep-fried Bacon-wrapped Mozzarella, Dreamy Drunken Sopapilla Bar, and Oreo Beer.
The State Fair of Texas runs September 29 through October 22 at Fair Park in Dallas.
