The pre-trial for Justin Carter started Tuesday in New Braunfels.

COMAL COUNTY — A four-year legal fight wrapped up Wednesday for a local man charged with making terroristic threats when he was 19 years old.

In 2013, Comal County prosecutors charged Justin Carter of New Braunfels with making a terroristic threat on Facebook, related to an online video game.

Carter admitted to investigators that he had made some snarky remarks in a discussion thread with some friends. His attorney characterizes the exchange as brief and harmless.

The attorney said conversation lasted less than 20 seconds and had fewer characters than a Tweet, but someone who saw the exchange grabbed a screen shot of the conversation and passed it on to law enforcement.

Carter has been waiting to fight the charge in court, but it was dropped on Wednesday.

His attorney said Carter instead plead guilty to a misdemeanor for creating a false alarm and was credited with time served.
