Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair brings in thousands of fans

Fans of Tejano music are coming from all over the country to Market Square in San Antonio for this free event that runs through Sunday.

Tejano Music fans are converging on downtown San Antonio this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair began Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Historic Market Square.

The event brings together the sights, sounds, and even the taste of Tex-Mex in one place!

With 200 bands from across the U.S on five different stages, live music plays 24/7 – and it’s all free! 95,000 people are expected to attend. Many traveled a long way to celebrate their love for music.

Rafael and Eva Gonzalez came from California.

“We’ve been saving up for years to come here,” they said. “It’s well worth it. The music, the food, the atmosphere, we’d come every year!”

One band, Mariachi Inolvidable, has been performing at the fest for four years in a row. This year, they are the opening act.

“It’s exciting, you get to see people from out of town come in, and enjoy what San Antonio has to offer,” said one band member. “San Antonio is flooded with talent.”

It’s no surprise this unique festival takes place in the heart of what many people call ‘The capital of Tex-Mex!’
