SAN ANTONIO -- A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in northeast San Antonio Thursday.

San Antonio police said the call came in from the 200 block of Rainbow Drive around 1:45 p.m.

The original call was for a woman who was being held against her will, said Chief William McManus, SAPD. The woman claimed to have been held for several days.

McManus said that the woman, reportedly in her early 20s, was able to call her mother at some point. Her mother then called police to the scene.

Once on location, police heard the woman screaming and kicked in the door. The suspect then turned on a responding officer with a rifle, but the officer was reportedly able to shoot the suspect twice.

The woman had injuries to her head and was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated.

It was not clear what relationship the suspect and victim were involved in. Further details were not immediately available.
